Thank you to Northwest Cherry Growers for sponsoring this post!

This cherry Shirley Temple sorbet is the ultimate summer treat! It’s made with fresh cherries, lemon-lime soda, and grenadine for the perfect sorbet.

I loved Shirley Temples as a kid! I mean, who doesn’t? It’s a fun little drink made with lemon lime soda, grenadine, ginger ale, and a cherry on top. It feels so fun fancy as a kid to get you own little drink, but this version is even better! It’s a sorbet version of a classic drink made with fresh seasonal cherries for natural sweetness and hidden benefits!

The Benefits of Fresh Summer Cherries

Cherries aren’t just delicious (but they are really delicious). They’re also packed with natural benefits!

Cherries have a low glycemic index, making this sorbet a balanced, naturally sweet treat without needing a ton of added white sugar. If you’ve ever bought sorbet from the store, you’ll see that they almost all have added sugar. With fresh cherries, you don’t need any added sweetener to still taste amazing.

Plus, cherries are known to be a natural sleep-inducing powerhouse that promotes quality sleep, making this sorbet an amazing addition to your bedtime routine. I’m sure you’ve seen the viral sleepy time mocktail with cherries, but I love making this sorbet an hour before bed for an, even more, fun bedtime treat.

The Ingredients for Shirley Temple Sorbet

  • Fresh cherries. I’m really stoked to be partnering with Northwest Cherry Growers on this recipe! Cherries are in season now, so make sure you use fresh cherries in this recipe for the best flavor possible.
  • Lemon-lime soda. There are a ton of options for better-for-you lemon-lime sodas these days, or you can even use fresh lemon and lime juice and carbonated water.
  • Grenadine. You can also just use a bit of pomegranate juice instead for that signature Shirley Temple flavor.

How to make Shirley Temple Sorbet in the Ninja Creami

  • Step one. Add the fresh cherries to the base of the ninja creami container and push them down to pack them in. Pour over the lemon-lime soda & grenadine, making sure the cherries are covered and do not exceed the fill line. Freeze for 24 hours.
  • Step two. Once frozen, run the container under warm water for about a minute, rotating the sides to ensure that any icey bits of the frozen liquid break up slightly.
  • Step three. Spin on the sorbet setting once. Remove the lid and make a well in the center of the creami. Add a splash of water and spin again on the respin setting. You’ll spin 2-3 times total, or until the sorbet is your desired texture!

Tips & Tricks

  • Use fresh cherries! This is key for the flavor and texture! I like to use a cherry pitter to speed up the process.
  • Add shaved chocolate on top. Cherries and chocolate are always a match made in heaven.

CAN YOU MAKE THIS RECIPE WITHOUT A NINJA CREAMI?

This recipe should also work in the food processor. Blend until smooth and then freeze in a container for 24 hours before scooping!

Cherry Shirley Temple Sorbet

  • Author: Michelle
  • Total Time: 24 hours, 5 mins
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup cherries, pitted
  • 3/4 cup lemon-lime soda
  • 1 tbsp grenadine (sub pomegranate juice)

Instructions

  1. Add the fresh cherries to the base of the ninja creami container and push them down to pack them in.
  2. Pour over the lemon-lime soda & grenadine, making sure the cherries are covered and do not exceed the fill line. Transfer to the freezer and freeze for 24 hours.
  3. Once frozen, run the container under warm water for about a minute, rotating the sides to ensure that any icey bits of the frozen liquid break up slightly. Ensure that the mixture is flat and not off-center, as this will damage the blade. Place the frozen cup inside the outer bowl and lock the lid on top. Spin on the sorbet setting once.
  4. Remove the lid and make a well in the center of the creami. Add a splash of water and spin again on the respin setting. You’ll spin 2-3 times total, or until the sorbet is your desired texture!
  5. Serve with fresh cherries on top and ENJOY!
