Green Mama Smoothie

Throughout the last several months of my pregnancy, I’ve been doing my best to focus on getting in lots of nourishing foods for my baby! Of course, sometimes that was easier said than done… especially in my first trimester. However, one of the things that I could consistently turn to for nutrients was a smoothie. I love having smoothies packed with nourishing ingredients for me and baby just like this one!

Why I Love this Green Mama Smoothie

It’s made with simple, yummy ingredients

I love using simple ingredients that I can stash in my freezer for quick smoothies.

It features folate-rich spinach

Folate is important for the developing baby, and leafy vegetables like spinach are a great way to sneak in more folate in a whole food form.

It’s made with Megafood Daily Multi Powder for Baby & Me

When I first got pregnant, I scoured the internet for the perfect prenatal for me and the baby, and came across MegaFood Daily Multi Powder for Baby & Me! I brought it to my doctor’s office to see if it was a good fit for me and my baby boy, and got the stamp of approval from my practitioners for me to continue to take it. What I love about it is that it’s made with real food from trusted farm partners, plus added nutrients, and is non-GMO, tested for 125+ herbicides and pesticides, vegetarian, gluten-, dairy-, and soy-free..  I’ve loved taking it throughout my pregnancy so far and plan to keep taking it postpartum as well.

This MegaFood Daily Multi Powder for Baby & Me is easy to stir into a smoothie, making it so easy to get what you need; it contains vitamin D to support strong bones, ginger to support healthy digestion, folate, iron and other key vitamins and minerals to support you and baby!* The last thing you need right now is to complicate your routine or second guess whether your prenatal multivitamin is working hard enough, so just stir, sip and stay healthy.*

Here’s what you need to make my yummy green mama smoothie…

The Ingredients You’ll Need for This Smoothie

How to Make the Green Mama Smoothie

  • Using a highspeed blender, blend all of the ingredients on high speed until well combined.
  • Add more 1/4 cup more liquid if a thinner smoothie is desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

You can even enjoy this as a smoothie bowl if you’re looking to change it up. Make it a little thicker with less liquid, serve in a bowl and top with your favorite granola and fruits. That’s it!

Potential Subsitutions

Sub frozen veggies and fruits for fresh

If you’re not keen on cold smoothies, you can opt for fresh ingredients rather than frozen.

Sub almond milk for water

Or any other liquid you prefer!

Sub avocado for a yogurt of your choice

I’m particularly fond of avocado in smoothies since it gives a creamy texture, but you can use something like coconut yogurt if you prefer that.
