Have you ever had a Paloma? It’s a Mexican cocktail made with tequila, grapefruit, soda, lime, and a fancy little rim to finish off the glass! It’s the perfect cocktail to grab at a Mexican restaurant or make at home, but if you’re not drinking, you may have to sit this one out… but not anymore! This paloma mocktail is perfect for expectant mom’s, kids or teens, or anyone who wants to skip the alcohol.
Michelle’s Pep Talk on Mocktails 🍹
Ever feel like an odd duck for not drinking? I’ve been there.
For me, it’s partially for health reasons that I don’t drink, but it’s also that I really dislike how it makes me feel.
The problem is that I used to always feel like the odd one out. Like everyone else is fun but me.
But here’s the thing… you don’t need alcohol to be fun, and you don’t need to explain to anyone why you’re not drinking. You can be yourself and people can and will like you for you, with or without alcohol.
If anyone asks, all you have to say is, “Do you want one of these really yummy paloma mocktails? I can make you one too!” 😉
Top Tips & Tricks
- Add sweetener to taste. Grapefruit is a very subjective taste. For some, it’s far too bitter, and others will enjoy the taste on its own. If you want to make it even sweeter, you can either add more sugar to the rim or add more maple syrup.
- Don’t have a cocktail shaker? Use a handfrother. A cocktail shaker is going to be the most obvious way to make a cocktail, but you can also blend it with a simple handfrother to get the flavors combined.
Recipe Variations
- Add a spicy rim. Add some Tajin to the rim for a spicy kick!
- Leave out the apple cider vinegar. The apple cider vinegar is an optional ingredient to add a similar kick you would get from alcohol. You can easily leave it out if you don’t like apple cider vinegar!
- Use agave syrup instead of maple syrup. The flavors will still be spot on for this recipe!
