Recipe Ingredients
See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities.
- Coconut yogurt. I love using Culina coconut yogurt as the base for a creamy dressing without any dairy.
- Cilantro. Crucial for that taco salad dressing flavor.
- Spices. This combo of spices adds much of the flavor to the coconut yogurt base.
- Lime Juice. The acidity from the lime juice is key to the taste.
Subsitutions and Modificaitons
- Greek yogurt. You can easily swap the coconut yogurt for Greek yogurt if you tolerate it for the perfect added protein boost.

Michelle’s Tips & Tricks
- Remove the stems from the cilantro. Personally, I love cilantro no matter what, but I find that remove the stems can take away some bitterness and help the texture!
- Add more or less lime juice. Depending on what brand of yogurt you use, your dressing may be more or less tangy. I suggest adjusting the lime juice to taste!
Recipe FAQS
I recommend storing this dressing in a sealed glass jar in the fridge for about 3 days.
Mayo-based dressings are what you’re most commonly going to see with a creamy dressing, but I love using coconut yogurt! It gives a similar creamy flavor, but it’s a bit lighter overall!
How to Build a Taco Salad
- The base: Romaine lettuce or butter lettuce.
- A protein: Diced chicken, ground beef, ground turkey, and/or black beans.
