Why you’ll love these kids’ lunch box ideas!
Packing lunch for your kiddo is one of those things that you do every day, and it can either take a lot of time with extravagant meals and everything cut into little shapes, or it can be a little bit more hands-off.
It’s hard to find that sweet spot between wanting to save time when we’re already all so busy, and providing a nutrious meal that your kid will actually eat.
But I think these ideas really nail it because they’re all…

- Quick and easy! These lunches take 5-10 minutes to put together, and don’t necessarily require fancy methods. But of course, you can make it fun with little cookie cutters if you want.
- Wholesome and filling! It’s crucial to me that my son actually feels full from his lunch, so I’ve provided ideas that are actually filling.
- Gluten-free and nut-free. Most schools are nut free, so this list only contains one nut optional ingreident. And of course, all of the recipes on my blog are always gluten free!
- Kid approved. These are lunches that I’ve actually given my son and got the nod of approval from him. Some are actually so popular in my house that my husband asks me if I can pack an extra for him too 😉
Our Favorite School Snacks
Here’s a quick list of some of my favorite packaged snacks to throw in my son’s lunch box for when I’m in a rush!
My favorite lunch box gear
- Divided stainless steel container: This is on the smaller side but perfect for younger kids.
- Mini stainless steel container: The perfect leak proof solution for dips!!
- Silicone bento box: This is my son’s favorite lunch box! It has four containers and is perfect for elementary-aged kids.
- Slim ice packs: A must for a lot of these lunches!
- Glass divided containers: Of course use glass at your own risk with younger kids. This is better for older kids or adults.
- Lunch box: This is the lunch box that I currently have my son and we love it! You can add cute little charms to decorate it to reflect their personality and interests.
Kids’ Lunch Box Ideas:
Gluten-free pizza lunchable

Marinara sauce of your choice (use my Daylight veggie pasta sauce for hidden veggies!), shredded cheese, salami or pepperoni, and Wasa gluten-free crackers. I also add fruit on the side, like an apple or a banana.
Send this with a spoon so your kids can make their own pizza!
Breakfast for lunch

Egg muffin (I buy these from Costco), chicken sausage, coconut yogurt, blueberries, hemp hearts, and granola (use this for a nut-free granola).
Hummus plate lunch

Cooked chicken, carrots, celery, hummus (I omit the nuts), and GF pita chips (swap with something nut-free if needed). I also add fruit on the side, like an apple or a banana.
Hard-boiled egg box

Salami, hard-boiled eggs, cucumber, and strawberries. I like to add a bag of chips on the side too!
Kids’ nacho lunch box

Shredded chicken, cheese, black beans, hummus, and tortilla chips. Sometimes I also send lettuce and guacamole on the side for my son! I also like to send some fruit.
Kids’ charcuterie lunch box

Salami, gluten-free crackers, goat mozzarella, celery, and cucumbers.
Turkey roll up lunch

Turkey rolled up with cream cheese, goat mozarella cubes, cucumber, clementine, and blueberries.
