This pumpkin butter is the perfect fall spread! It’s made with pumpkin puree, apple cider, and is free of refined sugar.

Love all things pumpkin during the fall? Same! Grocery stores tend to really go for it when it comes to pumpkin products in the fall, but sadly a lot of them are packed with lots of refined sugar, or allergens that a lot of us with food intolerances and chronic illnesses don’t tolerate. Luckily, fall staples like pumpkin butter are super easy to make at home! All you need is some simple ingredients and about 20 minutes for the best pumpkin butter you’ve ever had.

The Ingredients in the Pumpkin Butter

  • Pumpkin Puree. To give the authentic pumpkin taste!
  • Apple Cider. You can use apple juice instead.
  • Maple Syrup and Coconut Sugar. These add the sweetness to the pumpkin butter.
  • Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon. 
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice. You can use this recipe for AIP.

How to make Homemade Pumpkin Butter

  • Step 1. Combine all the ingredients in a pot set to low heat.
  • Step 2. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for 20-25 minutes..
  • Step 3. Serve and enjoy!

What can you serve with Pumpkin Butter?

  • Serve it over a piece of toast or a bagel.
  • Dip apple sliced in the pumpkin butter.
  • Serve over baked or sautéed apples.
  • Add it to your oatmeal or chia pudding.

Store the pumpkin butter in a glass container in the fridge for about 5 days.

Can you freeze pumpkin butter?

You can easily freeze the pumpkin butter. You can add it to a silicone mold and defrost it overnight in the fridge.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 13.5 oz can pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup apple cider, sub apple juice
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Add the ingredients to a pot set to low heat and stir to combine.
  • Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring often, until the pumpkin butter is thick and reduced.
  • Serve over gluten-free toasts, with apples, etc!
