Beef stir fry is one of my favorite meals, like this Mongolian beef stir fry, but it can get a little expensive. Can’t you just do it with ground beef to make it cheaper and easier? Yes! I’m going to show you how to do just that, while still keeping it healthy, paleo, whole30, AIP, and keto!
Why you’ll love Ground Beef & Cabbage Stir Fry
- It’s really easy! No fuss, just a simple and nourishing meal to make when you want something healthy and yummy, but low maintenance.
- Get creative! This recipe is delicious, but it’s also so flexible to what vegetables you have in the fridge or on sale at the grocery store.
The Ingredients for Ground Beef & Cabbage Stir Fry
- Ground Beef.
- Cabbage, Zucchini, Carrots, and Broccoli. Feel free to switch up the vegetables!
- Garlic and Ginger.
- Coconut Aminos. This is a soy sauce substitute that’s soy-free!
How to Make the Ground Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry
- Step One. Brown the ground beef and set aside.
- Step Two. Saute the ginger and garlic.
- Step Three. Add the vegetables and cook to soften.
- Step Four. Add the ground beef back in along with the coconut aminos and green onion and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks
- Get a good quality ground beef! It’s still a cheaper cut of beef even if it’s higher quality, and you’ll really taste the difference in a stir fry like this.
- Adjust seasonings to taste. We all have different tastes when it comes to things like garlic and ginger. It’s best to go with your own palette.
- You can get creative with vegetables. Use whatever you love or whatever is on sale! A few ideas would be green cabbage, bok choy, onions, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, etc. If you’re keto, you just have to be cognizant of the vegetables you’re adding and the amounts you’re using.

Just made this for lunch and oh my is it yummy!! Very flavorful! I subbed mushrooms for the zucchini. Will definitely make again 🙂
Yay! So glad you liked it! Thank you so much! 🙂
Make this a lot! Delicious and easy!!! Usually add more cabbage since that’s how it comes…
Thank you so much, Lori!!
I just made this for dinner. It’s very tasty!
Made this today and the flavor is awesome! I seasoned my beef with season salt but didn’t add any additional salt or pepper and it still tastes great.
We didn’t have any zucchini on hand and I have a food sensitivity to garlic, so I left those out, but otherwise I made this recipe for dinner tonight. My husband and I both liked it. Thanks for sharing it.
The only addition i made to the recipe was to add two mushrooms that were thinly sliced. Excellent. Will definitely make again
I’ve made this twice in the last two weeks, it’s so good! Quick and easy! Thank you.
Thank you, Kriss!!
This is delicious and easy! Also, great leftovers.
No flavor no matter how much salt, pepper or ginger added. Not a fan!
This was fantastic! We loved everything about it, I served over brown rice and used soy sauce instead of coconut aminos. Delicious recipe!
This has become one of my fav go-to recipes. It’s great as-is but I’ve made some modifications over time for my personal taste. I double all ingredients except the meat, salt, and coconut aminos- I like a higher veggie to meat ratio. I wait to add the garlic and ginger until the veggies are in the pan with enough additional oil (otherwise my garlic burns.) I also wait on the carrots and add them with the cabbage to keep them crisper, and I add red pepper flakes at this step too because I like things spicy. Sometimes a little more salt at the end if needed. Love how easy and adaptable this recipe is – thank you!
YUM! So glad you are enjoying!
This recipe was SOOOO easy to make and I love the veggies used! This dish had enough flavor for my taste and was VERY filling. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so, so much Abby! So glad that you liked it!
Made this with chicken breast bc that’s what we had. It was delicious!!!! My husband asked me to put it on the weekly rotation!
YAY! So glad you and your husband liked the recipe!!
Can you freeze this meal? Trying to meal prep and want some freezer options.
Not sure this would reheat very well. But I have a whole list of freezer meals here: https://unboundwellness.com/healthy-freezer-meals/
Always looking for new hamburger recipes. I’ll have to try this out. I think the boys will love it.
This was so delicious! And even more veggie dense version of the beef noodle stir fry (had to step away from them because those “sweet potato” noodles were starting to feel like they had more than sweet potato in them.
But I am so glad I can replace them with this, and it’s even healthier! I put ALL the vegetables you recommended in it. And I used a primal beef blend, to sneak some organ meats in. It was so fantastic. I gave the same to my toddler son, but the lucky kid had his with rice. Lol
This is going to be a staple. Thank you, yet again!
Love how easy with just using ground beef. I always have that in the fridge.
I just made this and put it over cauliflower rice. Soooo good! Thanks for all your yummy recipes!!
This has become part of my weekly rotation for the last 6 months, so I thought it was time to write a review:) It’s quick, flavorful and nutrient dense and can adapt to what I have to use up in the fridge. Thank you!
so glad, thank you!!
Easy and tasty fed four
so glad you enjoyed!!
Delicious, as per usual! Thanks, Michelle 🙂
Yummy! We’ve made this several times already, and it’s a keeper. Healthy and delicious!
Thank you!!
This tastes incredible!!! Even my husband loved it. I’ve also make it successfully with ground turkey. Thank you, it’s a life saver on Whole 30.
Thank you so much!!
How much is one serving?
The serving is about 1/3 of the recipe.
My kids loved this. Thank you.
Yay, so glad!!
I used purple cabbage and cooked the scallions with the veggies. Loved how it turned out, easy and delicious!!
Yay, so glad!!
LOVE THIS!! AND YOU CAN MIX UP THE VEGETABLES AND MEATS. GREAT WAY TO USE UP YOUR VEGETABLES IN THE VEGETABLE DRAWER!
Thank you!!
I made without carrots and zucchini because I didn’t have any. I just added extra cabbage. So tasty! My husband even liked it and he’s so picky!
