This matcha lemonade is a refreshing Starbucks copycat! It’s easy to make and is paleo, AIP, and free of refined sugar.

What is matcha lemonade?

Matcha is one of my favorite ingredients! It’s a rich green tea powder that makes amazing lattes! It’s definitely more on the savory side than the refreshing side, but I’ve been eyeing matcha lemonade for quite some time to make the perfect balance of rich and refreshing!

Matcha lemonade is made with matcha green tea powder, fresh lemon juice, and a bit of honey to make a light and fresh warm-weather drink! This Starbucks copycat is easy to make with just a few ingredients!

The Ingredients for matcha lemonade.

  • Matcha green tea powder. Pique is my favorite matcha!
  • Water & ice
  • Lemon juice. Make sure you use fresh lemon juice for that perfect springy flavor!
  • Honey. Maple syrup would also work.

How to make matcha lemonade

  • Step one. Add the hot water to a small bowl and sift the matcha powder over the water. Using a bamboo matcha whisk (or a hand frother) whisk the mixture well until thick paste forms and the matcha dissolves. Set aside and allow to cool.
  • Step two. Add the cold water, lemon juice, and honey to a pitcher and stir well to combine. Pour in the matcha mixture and stir.
  • Step three. Fill two large glasses about halfway with ice and pour the matcha lemonade over the ice. Serve fresh.

Tips & Tricks

  • If you don’t have a whisk, use a milk frother. I do this all the time! It’s not really the traditional way to do it, but it will work.
  • Drink it fresh! Keep that perfectly fresh flavor and drink it once you make it!

What kind of matcha should you use to make matcha lemonade?

I use pique brand matcha! I like the flavor and color a lot. However, you can easily use whatever matcha powder you have on hand.

Can you use bottled lemon juice instead?

If that’s all that you have on hand, you can use that instead. However, it won’t have quite the same fresh flavor.

Can you use another sweetener other than honey?

I think honey works the best in this recipe, but you can experiment with other sweetener options as well.
