A sheet pan with fries and burgers after cooking.

My family has been on a burger with fries kick, and I’m all about it 😉 I love taking shortcuts with recipes like my bun-less burger bowls, but sometimes you just want the real deal. A burger and fries can take up so much prep space and dishes on their own, so I decided to combine them both on one sheet pan for the perfect shortcut!

This sheet pan burger and fries is the ultimate solution for a simple dinner made in the oven! No frying is necessary, no grill, and only one pan is used for the whole process.

Can you really cook burgers and fries in the oven at the same time?

Yes, you really can! The issue you can run into is that they need different cook times. The trick is to stagger it by starting with the fries first and adding the burgers after to ensure that the fries are perfectly crispy, and burgers that are still nice and juicy.

Why you’ll love sheet pan burger & fries

  • One Pan Wonder. It’s amazing to make burgers AND fries while only using one pan. It makes dinner easier to make and easier to clean up!

All the ingredients for making sheet pan burgers and fries, before cooking.
  • Japanese Sweet Potatoes. These are more starchy than orange sweet potatoes and are definitely going to get more crispy!
  • Ground Beef. I like to use 100% grass fed ground beef.
  • Seasonings.

Modifications

  • White potatoes. If you can tolerate them, you could use white potatoes instead of Japanese sweet potatoes.
  • Burger seasoning. If there’s a seasoning blend you prefer, you can for sure swap that in for this recipe.

Michelle’s Tips & Tricks 🤓

  • Use a meat thermometer. A meat thermometer is always the best way to ensure you burgers are perfectly cooked.
  • Don’t overwork the meat. This is the secret to cooking juicy burgers every time! You only want to gently mix in the seasonings and then form the burgers rather than vigorously mixing as this can make for tough burgers.
  • Don’t skip the parchment paper! The key to cooking this recipe well is using parchment paper to separate the burger and fries so the fat from the burger doesn’t make the fries too greasy. You can also use foil, but I always prefer parchment paper.

Notes

Make sure you use a large enough baking sheet to avoid overcrowding the pan, as an overcrowded pan will result in mushy fries. If you don’t have a large baking sheet, you can easily split this recipe between two sheet pans.
