What is Tandoori Chicken?

Tandoori Chicken is a wildly popular and delicious traditional Indian dish! It is traditionally prepared by marinating a whole chicken in a spiced yogurt sauce and a tandoor spice blend, and is roasted in a clay oven. Tandoori chicken seriously stole my heart in college, when I first discovered the deliciousness that is Indian food!

Traditionally, Tandoori Chicken is made as a whole chicken with nightshade spices and dairy, and is roasted in a cylindrical clay oven, but this version is made gluten-free, dairy-free, adaptable to be night-shade free, all while retaining the amazing tandoori flavor while being made easy and fun in burger form!

How to Make Tandoori Chicken Burgers

  • Make the yogurt sauce: Add the ingredients to a small bowl and stir well to combine. Set aside in the fridge.
  • Make the burgers: Using a medium bowl, combine the chicken with the seasonings, coconut oil, and coconut flour. Mix well to fully combine. Form the mixture into 4 even sized burgers and set aside.

What pan do you use to grill these burgers inside?

Since I live in Texas where it’s so hot and sunny all, I love having the option to grill inside! I use a lodge cast iron grill pan. However, you can also use an outdoor grill as well.

Do you have to grill them? What about pan-frying them or baking them?

You can for sure test other methods of cooking the burgers like pan-frying or baking if you don’t have an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan.
