Easy Caramelized Pears
These caramelized pears come together quickly and are a perfect fall, healthier dessert! They are great paired with vanilla coconut milk ice cream or whipped coconut cream, or just eat them on their own!
They are made with just a few simple ingredients that you likely already have most of in your pantry! While you can throw them together quickly, the taste seems so much more decedent.
The Ingredients for Caramelized Pears
- Pears. I like to use Bartlett pears for this recipe!
- Ghee. You can substitute coconut oil.
- Coconut Sugar. Just a small amount to sweeten!
- Cinnamon and Ginger. For seasoning!
How to make Easy Caramelized Pears
- Wash the pears well and slice into large slices.
- Using a large skillet, heat the ghee over medium-low heat. Cook the pears to soften.
- Stir in the coconut sugar, cinnamon and ginger, and stir to fully coat the pears and allow the sugar to melt.
- Serve the pears fresh!
What pears should you use?
I like to use Bartlett pears for this recipe!
How do you know your pears are fresh and ripe?
To test your pears for ripeness, lightly feel the top of the pear (by the steam) with your finger to ensure it’s lightly soft.
Can you use something other than coconut sugar for this recipe?
I think coconut sugar works best! You can try to use honey or maple syrup, but the amounts and appearance may be different from this recipe.
Are caramelized pears healthy?
Healthy is a subjective term for sure, but considering these are made with fresh fruit and real ingredients, we’d call these pretty wholesome!!

Ingredients
- 3 pears
- 2 tbsp ghee (sub coconut oil)
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ginger
Instructions
- Wash the pears well and slice them into 4-5 large slices.
- Using a large skillet, heat the ghee over medium-low heat. Add the pears, cut side down and cook for 3 minutes to lightly soften before rotating to the opposite cut side. Cook for another 3 minutes.
- Stir in the coconut sugar, cinnamon and ginger, and stir to fully coat the pears and allow the sugar to melt.
- Serve the pears fresh with a side of coconut milk ice cream, or fresh coconut cream.
